Too Many Afflictions?

The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
Psalm 34:19  NLT

A friend asked me recently why we have so many battles.  Why can’t we deal with the enemy once and for all and he will never bother us again.

Jesus was tempted by Satan.  Don’t you think that we would be tempted too?

I told her that if we didn’t have battles with the enemy, then we would never know our God as our deliverer, our defender, our strength, our joy in the midst of the battle.

We would not have the sheer joy of victory in Jesus.  Our hearts would not be drawn closer to Him because He rescued us and restored us and renewed us day by day, moment by moment.

We went through a rough battle when our kids were younger.  I learned the meaning of true and deep worship.

I learned how to find rest on my knees.

I learned how to trust in His unfailing love.

I learned in that season of trial how to battle with praise.

Many are the afflictions of those who follow after God.  But God!  But God DELIVERS him out of them all.  Not just some of them.  All of them!

If you are facing a battle today, be encouraged that God is the great deliverer.  And He is so faithful to His Word.  He will deliver you.  Ask Him how you should fight the battle.  He will give you the strategy for victory.  And ask Him what He wants to do in you in the midst of the battle.

I wouldn’t want to repeat the battle we had with our kids.  But I am so very grateful for how I grew spiritually through that time.  I became more  acquainted with a Father who held me close in His arms and taught me many valuable lessons.

Father God, I pray for those who are going through those tough battles of life where they can’t see the victory ahead of them.  Lord, comfort them, strengthen them and help them to keep their eyes on You.  Show them the strategy for the victory.  Help them to stand strong in faith.   Speak to their hearts so that they can fight to the end and attain victory. Fill their hearts with Your everlasting love in the midst of the battle.  The joy of the Lord is our strength!  In Jesus Name!

Blessings as the victory comes closer.

Amen to this verse! Our family is going through a very difficult time right now and it always amazes me how God just always sends us what we need when we need it!
