The Pearl of Great Worth.
Do you know the parable? In Matthew 13:45,46.
I want to remember this because I know we search sometimes and we don’t see the “pearl,” or we see it but forget to sell everything for it. It’s kind of silly I think that we know better — what we should be doing, and yet don’t do it. I pray that I will not hold onto anything that keeps me from finding my treasure in the Lord.

Amydeanne,
Having found the "pearl" of infinite value–salvation through Jesus Christ–I confess what must be my lack of seeing it as a "treasure"–my lack of love for a lost world, and fear of rejection(!) in not being more bold to tell others! I have been praying for boldness (to speak up besides giving tracts). (Paul's words in Colossians 4:2-6 come to mind, where he asks for prayer, "praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ…"
and then he says, "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."
Redeeming the time, grace-filled words, salty: yes.
Your words reminded me of this quote which I read over at Joyfully Home,
"How much do you have to hate someone to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them?"

Thank you for this post… No matter what we try, do or possess – if Jesus is not in it, neither is there any true joy or peace. Sometimes we do foolishly forfeit spiritual pearls for that which is but paste.
Thanks Wendy!
interesting quote from Penn, I read that somewhere before as well or something similar!
