That Agape Kind of Love

Agappe love.

The kind of love that made the Creator become our Saviour.

The kind of love that made the Saviour leave His throne above, His throng of angels worshipping Him, and come to earth.

The kind of love that made God become a baby in the arms of a young mother.

The kind of love that made the King become a servant.

The kind of love that said “Suffer the little children to come unto Me”.

The kind of love that not only broke bread to feed the hungered multitude, but broke His body to feed the dying soul.

The kind of love that not only washed the disciples’ feet with water, but washed our sins away with His blood.

The kind of love that caught Peter from sinking when he cried “Lord, save me”.

The kind of love that died for Thomas the doubting, Peter the denying, Paul the persecuting.

The kind of love that prayed alone for what He was to endure, for His disciples were not able to remain awake with Him.

The kind of love that died for those that would rather have a murderer.

The kind of love that heard the very people He came to earth to save cry “Crucify Him, Crucify Him”.

The kind of love that was smote on the face while blindfolded as He was getting ready to die for the ones that smote Him.

The kind of love that died for those who caused the atoning blood to flow from His hands and feet and head.

The kind of love that hung as the thieves that He might save them.

The kind of love that lay lifeless, His life taken away by those He came to save.

Agape love.

The kind of love that makes a mother become a mommy.

The kind of love that puts siblings over friends.

The kind of love that lets others play with our special toys.

The kind of love that says to the youngest, “you can go first”.

The kind of love that holds sticky hands while praying.

The kind of love that praises the proud artist while ignoring the mess.

The kind of love that patiently explains the hard chemistry lessons.

The kind of love that puts off important projects in order to help with another’s “important projects”.

The kind of love that doesn’t shush the opera singing.

The kind of love that holds its tongue from saying something seemingly funny, but negative about someone else.

The kind of love that turns the other cheek.

The kind of love that is willing to be there for the person that said “I wish I had never met you”.

The kind of love that gives without receiving, that loves without expecting, that smiles an unreturned smile.

The kind of love that does.

It’s that agape kind of love.

Hi. I am sharing blogs I run across with other women of faith. I read through some of your posts today and am wondering if I can have your permission to use a post in a grass roots magazine that is published by several of the women in my life. The magazine is called Sister Triangle and the mission of the publication is to ‘encourage one another in love’. It would mean you could pick what we would print if you would like or I could choose one that suits the theme. We have a retreat each year in February at which I would also ‘advertise’ your blog as a good one to go to for encouragement. The magazine is small and a non profit who would like to connect Christian women in this broader way.
