It is cold here in the Midwest. As I am typing this post, the snow is falling and we are expected to have 3-6 inches fall before noon tomorrow. Just typing that makes me cold and long for something to warm me. How about some Fiesta Hot Chocolate? It will definitely warm you and the family on these cold evenings. I hope you enjoy.
Fiesta Hot Chocolate
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup grated piloncillo or 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 4 cups milk
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 stick cinnamon, broken into halves
- 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Whipped cream
- 4 sticks cinnamon
Mix cocoa and flour in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in piloncillo, milk, cloves and 1 stick cinnamon. Heat just to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 5 minutes (do not boil). Remove from heat; remove cloves and cinnamon. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat with wire whisk or hand beater until foamy. Pour into 4 cups or mugs. Serve with whipped cream and cinnamon sticks. (Calories: 285.)
