A special tradition we have in our family is to make the birthday girl or boy breakfast in bed on their birthday. Usually, I make overnight spicy cinnamon rolls, which I can prepare the night before, then bake fresh in the morning. I show you how in the video below!

Here is the recipe:
1 1/4c. warm milk
1/3 c. melted butter
3 T. Sugar
2 T. Yeast
3 c. whole wheat flour (I am using Prairie Gold White Wheat, as it tastes milder)
1 1/2 c. – 3c. white bread flour
Filling:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 T. Cinnamon
1/8t. each cloves, nutmeg, and allspice
melted butter to brush on dough
Glaze:
4 oz. of cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
3 T. milk
Baking temp: 350 F.
Baking time: 30 minutes

We have this very same tradition in our family. It is one of our favorites and having 6 in our family is a pretty nice treat for cinnamon rolls. We also celebrate them on Christmas morning for Jesus’ birthday too. =0)
Neat, Kelly! I know my kids look forward to it every year for their birthdays. It’s a way of making it very special for them. I think it’s a great idea for Christmas morning too!
