Leave The Light On

Have you ever gone through your house and counted how many light bulbs you have burning? It could turn out to be quite the project if ALL of the light bulbs burnt out all at once.

It is such a great feeling, when I walk into the dark house and I flip that switch on and the light shines and illuminates the room. How awful it would be to come into the house and find that the light did not shine. I would find myself stumbling through the house, trying to find my way and probably tripping on something left on the floor.

I was thinking the other day, how horrible it would be to reside in a home where there was no light. I don’t mean literally a light bulb burning, but can you imagine living in a home where the light of Jesus did not shine?

God’s Holy Word instructs us that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6-7) Without Jesus, we are simply left to live in the dark.

For so long, we have been telling our kids … “turn the light off” – because we want to save energy. But it is my prayer that the light of Jesus will be so bright in our homes and in our lives that we reverse that thinking to “turn the light on!” – because we want to save those that are lost.

JOHN 8:12 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

This is Laurie … and I’m gonna leave the light on for ya!

Amen! Looking at each physical lightbulb in my home as I turn it on or off will remind me that the Light of Jesus must, MUST be left on. We want Him with us always and shining through us. Thanks, ~ linda
