One of my favorite lines in the movie ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ is said when Lucy asks whether Aslan is safe. Mr. Beaver replies with certainty, ”Safe? Of course he’s not safe! But he’s good.”
And indeed, He is.
We have a mighty, powerful, passionate, compassionate, mama-bear-hearted God who stands alongside us, in us, and all around us promising to uphold us with His mighty right hand. Who shall we fear? Of whom shall we be afraid?
{insert deep, guttural, confident woman growl here}
Sometimes we just need to be reminded just who’s on our side. That the Creator of life itself is the one who’s standing in our corner rooting for us–mighty to save and delighted beyond belief at the plans He is eager to unfold before us.
Do not be afraid; do not fear. No matter what you’re going through right now, it hasn’t taken Him by surprise. And He’s more than able to redeem your biggest mess, your deepest ache, your darkest night, and bring beauty from the ashes. You may not know what the future holds right now, but you do know the One who holds it.
Hold onto your hats, beloved! Could your future possibly look any brighter?
“I have called you back from the ends of the earth,
saying, ‘You are my servant.’
For I have chosen you
and will not throw you away.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”Isaiah 41:9-10
