Would you come with me? I’d like for you to take a step back in time for a moment.
Walk with me for a bit down this dusty road. I want to show you something.
Just a bit further.
Here we are, ah… but not to close, I just want you to quietly observe.
Can you see them? Right there… At the Well. The women from the town are all gathered together in the midst of their daily work.
Words of advice exchanging
Old hands showing the way to the young
Feeding their souls
Nourishing their spirits
Gathered together… At the Well.
Come back with me now to the present. Our communities have grown and we are spread out. Technology has discounted the need for a well to draw our water. However, it is still possible for us to meet At the Well, in true Titus 2 form. It has just now become a virtual well.
“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. Titus 2: 1-5
According to Titus 2, as women we are to:
Speak things that are proper in sound doctrine (we need to know His Word!)
Be reverent in behavior
Not be given to slander
Not be given to much wine
Be teachers of good things
Love our husbands
Love our children
Be obedient to our own husbands
Wow what a list – a bit daunting at first glance, but ladies… we were wired with the desire to fulfill this incredible role as Titus 2 women. This is how our awesome Creator fashioned and formed us. As women, we have an INCREDIBLE part to play in the Masterpiece written by our Father.
Our goal at At the Well is to encourage you in your role as a Titus 2 woman. We will cover five main topics:
Gathering At the Well
“encouraging, equipping & teaching what is good”
Reflections on the Home
“to be homemakers and busy at home”
To Raise Them Up
“to love their children”
To Have and To Hold
“to love their husbands and be subject to them”
Hide it in Your Heart
” to teach what is good… to be reverent “
We also have several monthly features that take place on Fridays:
Woman to Woman
“older women are to encourage younger women”
This is a Q&A time where we answer reader questions around the topic of Titus 2.
A Fresh Dip
“welcoming a new voice”
This is a time when we spotlight guest contributors!
“becoming reflections of Christ”
This is written by and for younger women
This is a time when we some practical advice
My prayer is that the Well will be used by the Father to help us recognize who we are in Him. I encourage you to come to the Well, and come often.
Come when your cup is empty, and when it “runneth over”
Come when you hurt or you want to help the hurting
Come when you need practical advice or have some to give
Come when you need encouragement or when you can be the encourager
Come to listen and come to talk
When you come, I can promise one thing; according to Titus 2, God has called women to mentor and minister to one another and that is what you will find here…
At the Well.
